Nella legge del mondo

Nella legge del mondo
c’è anche il tuo silenzio
quel vacuo dolente
che mi assale di notte.

E non c’è cura
nell’inezia

a tralasciare

disperdere il tesoro
spegnere sorrisi.

Nella legge del mondo
c’è la mia carezza
testarda
l’abbraccio impervio
l’esserci nostro

l’esserci   esserci   essere

Francesca Ruth Brandes, da L’undicesimo giorno (LietoColle 2012)

Mattutino

Vedo che con te è come con le betulle:
non mi è concesso parlarti
alla maniera personale. Molto
c’è stato fra noi. O
fu sempre solo
da una parte? Sono
in torto, in torto, ti ho chiesto
di essere umano: non sono più bisognosa
di altri. Ma l’assenza
di ogni sentimento, della minima
cura per me… tanto vale che continui
a rivolgermi alle betulle,
come nella mia vita precedente: facciano
pure il peggio, mi
seppelliscano con i romantici,
le foglie gialle a punta
cadano e mi coprano.

Louise Glück (New York, 1943) da L’iris selvatico (Giano Editore, 2003)

I see it is with you as it is with the birches:

I am not to speak to you
in the personal way. Much
has passed between us. Or
was it always only
on the one side? I am
at fault, at fault, I asked you
to be human—I am no needier
than other people. But the absence
of all feeling, of the least
concern for me—I might as well go on
addressing the birches,
as in my former life: let them
do their worst, let them
bury me with the Romantics,
their pointed yellow leaves
falling and covering me.
